Is $35 too much to pay to make a difference?

Ethical choices aren’t hard, it is simply a matter of priorities.  Should I buy 1 item or 10?  Should I invest in my community, the environment, humanity?  Should I trade long term good for short term gain.  Should I stand tall and know that I made a difference today?

Ethical choices and eco fashion don’t have to be expensive.  You make a stand from where you are today and simply say how can I start?

Levant showcases products from $35 through to $500 - there is a place for everyone.

3Fish have a great base range and as their swing tag says: - ’Every fibre stands for something.  Which do you know more about?  The living conditions of the chickens that laid the eggs in your fridge?  or the people who make your clothes? if it’s the first then we think you’ll be interested to know more about the people who made this tee shirt.

This tee shirt feels great because it’s soft and comfy.  To start with, farmers in a North Indian co-operative grew the cotton without the use of chemicals fertilizers, pesticides and GMO seeds earning it Australian Organic certification.  Even better, they were paid a fair price for their toil, that’s why it carries the Fairtrade label.

This tee shirt was created in a well managed factory with skilled staff, where men and women are paid equal wages, and the primary and secondary eduction of their children is paid for - that definitely feels good.

Creating knitted cotton fabric and crafting it into a tee shirt uses processes that consume energy; effort has gone into making minimal impact on the earth.  The greenhouse gas emissions from the cotton farm to you have been calculated by the Carbon Reduction Institute and offset by the purchase of carbon credits earning it Carbon Neutral status.

You could say this is a tee shirt for change or just a great tee shirt’.  BY 3Fish

Ayurvedic Cooking Workshop

As promised, this year is set to be jam packed with seminars, workshops, new products and new opportunities. The opening of our Studio last year created a great space for connection and learning experiences. This year we will be holding a series of workshops and I am excited to announce that Stephen Galpin will be presenting the first workshop in our programme.

Stephen is an Ayurvedic Cooking Consultant and Vegetarian Chef offering private consultations, cooking workshops and retreat catering in SA, Northern NSW and the Gold Coast. With a food career spanning 34 years, Stephen has taught at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu School in South Australia, has been Executive Chef at the Adelaide Festival Centre, Head Chef at Sables Restaurant and ran his own successful restaurant for 10 years. With Maggie Beer and Stephanie Alexander amongst his list of clients he has notched up a list of Industry Awards in Food Design and Manufacturing. He is part of the Mudita Institute’s teaching team, leading the cooking demonstrations at their applied Ayurveda retreats. Stephen brings with him a desire to uncover a deeper, more subtle relationship with food through his insights into Yoga and Meditation, Ayurvedic principles and his vast knowledge of vegetarian cuisine.

Ayurvedic Cooking

Ayurveda is India’s timeless traditional system of medicine. Although developed more than 5000 years ago, it is based on the fundamental, unchanging laws of nature so remains as relevant today as ever before. However, Ayurveda is more than a medical system, it is a ‘science of life’, teaching principles and practices that help us live a life of greater depth, health and happiness.

Food is at the very heart of this journey. Ayurveda teaches us how to choose, prepare, eat and relate to our food in a way that makes it deeply nourishing to our body, mind and spirit. This food, cooked with love and intention, is divinely delicious! It is an act of joyous celebration!

Spaces are limited and the cost is $10 and redeemable on the evening on the purchase of Stephens new cookbook ‘The Ayurvedic Kitchen’.

Live Your Dream

Live Your Dream is a new project that I have started with my sister Dalice. Living Your Dream is all about following your heart and living from a place of authenticity.  I feel so lucky that each day I am able to live my dream and I am passionate about sharing my journey and helping others to start theirs.  Through our new website www.liveyourdream.com.au we are promoting different projects, books and sharing information. One of the programmes that we joined last year which has made a significant difference in my life is Making a Million Look Small. When I first saw the title of this programme, I took a step back, however after listening to the preview call I knew it held something for me and I haven’t looked back since. A new class is about to start and a live Preview call will be held soon. This preview call is FREE and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to live their dream life and change their current results. Even if you don’t join the programme the information gained from the Preview call alone has the power to transform. There are a limited number of openings for each presentation, so register your spot quickly, to ensure you get your choice of dates. To do so, just click here

The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.

Christmas Rest and Recuperation

We are closing our doors and popping the champagne at 3.00 pm on Saturday December 24th and spending the week with family and friends.

We will re-open on Tuesday 3rd January refreshed and ready for the New Year.

We have an exciting calender planned for the year and will be starting a series of workshops called ‘Conversations with Mary’.

The workshops will be varied, interesting, thought provoking and enjoyable.  Our calendar will be available on the 3rd of January - I look forward to seeing you in the New Year!!

The generosity of everyone involved in the shoe drive has been incredible with over 50,000 shoes now collected and packed (we are still going so who knows what the final tally will be).

While unpacking shoes we came across a shoe box for the Brand ‘Timberland’ and I love their message and thought I would share it with you (even though they’re not Australian Made).

This was written on the inside of their box which is made from 100% post consumer recycled material, built with no glue and printed with soy and water-based inks.

'How will we change today?

The opportunity to make it better is everywhere if we choose to act.  Better is seeing a void and filling it.  Hearing a call for help and answering it.  Taking a wrong and making it right.  It is as small as making boots, shoes, and gear or as big as changing the world.  Better is giving employees paid time to serve.  Building a house. Painting a school.  Empowering our youth.  Feeding the hungry. Or revitalizing a community.  Better is a call to action.  A rallying cry. Fearless. Determined. Passionate. And connected.  It is searching within. Reaching out. Heading into the eye of the storm.  Adventuring out to the middle of nowhere. And doing so with purpose.  So when the sun sets and we think about what tomorrow will bring, we understand that better is not what we do.  It is who we are.’ Timberland

So thank you to everyone that has donated, contributed and supported, you have made the change.

The Pedestal

One of the best things about working at Levant is when customers become friends and the conversations which then entail.

I would love to share this story about an elderly couple and their secret to a fulfilling relationship as told to me by a friend.

When asked what the secret to their relationship was the elderly lady replied,’ My husband always put me on a pedestal and when he put me on a pedestal I would put him on a pedestal.  When I put him on a pedestal he would put me higher on the pedestal until we both reached heaven’.

Wishing you a little bit of heaven in your relationships.
